Time is one of the most controversial topic of all. Nowadays it is still without a unique and undisputed definition. Philosophers, Physicists and great thinkers have given many different interpretations and definitions of time but none of these theories has ever been recognised as universally correct.
“Representation of time” are paintings that simply picture a section of our time. They don’t capture just a moment (like in a picture) or register an event (like in a video) but they also aim to show that very undefinable, objective time moving within space.
A repetition of small lines one after the other capture the succession of the “presents” that all together create a visible texture of stretched time.
Time has now become solid and still, captured on the surface of the canvas.
